Marc Pierre, 22, of Maplewood is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, eluding, trespassing and resisting arrest. A 17-year-old male juvenile from Newark also was taken into custody.
Shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, Linden police responded to the Aviation Plaza parking lot after receiving multiple calls about a red Porsche driving recklessly in the Aviation Plaza parking lot.
Officers found the vehicle, which was reported stolen out of New York. When police attempted to initiate contact, the vehicle fled the parking lot at a high speed, police said. Officers pursued the vehicle, but the pursuit was terminated in the area of W. 15th St.
Minutes later, police located the vehicle at the intersection of South Wood Avene and Route 1. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle again, and a second pursuit was initiated. The stolen vehicle fled northbound on Route 1 until it collided with another vehicle at the intersection with Morses Mill Road, police said.
Two suspects ran from the vehicle and climbed a fence into the Phillips 66 Refinery. Officers continued to give chase, and both suspects were taken into custody a short time later.
Pierre was sent to the Essex County Jail pending an appearance in Superior Court.
Juvenile complaints were filed against the 17-year-old for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, trespassing and resisting arrest. The juvenile was released to his guardian pending an appearance in Family Court.
